The Galena Creek Bridge is a twin 1725 foot long, cast-in-place, conventionally reinforced concrete box girder bridge with a cathedral arched main span of 689 feet. The twin bridges pass 295 feet over the Galena Creek below. The concrete cathedral arch of this bridge sets a record as the largest of its kind in the world.
The bridge is the centerpiece of Nevada's largest ever transportation project, a 8.5 mile long extension of the I-580 freeway that connects Reno and Carson City.
Hatcher Technical worked with the Nevada Department of Transportation and contractor CC Myers to provide:
- Fully integrated 3D models of the superstructure hinges
- Constructability review of post-tensioning hardware and reinforcing steel in the superstructure hinges
